Joe grew up in the hair and beauty industry, mentored by his father, Frank Cairo, champion stylist, salon owner and previous owner of MC College. Joe added to his education with a BA in Political Science and over 27 years in the college industry. Joe was Director of Operations for 6 years before becoming President of MC College. He shares his knowledge and experience by giving back to the industries, sectors & communities he serves. He currently sits on the boards of the Allied Beauty Association (ABA) and The Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS) in Edmonton. Joe was previously Chair of the Alberta Association of Career Colleges (AACC) and board member of the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC). He has also mentored young entrepreneurs as along time member of The Entrepreneurs Organization (EO). Joe’s goal is to inspire our students with the entrepreneurial spirit and by providing the tools necessary to cultivate their own financially rewarding careers.
Cheryl Harrison has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Alberta. She has been with MC College Group for over 25 years. Throughout her career with MC College, she has worked in a variety of positions within the company including Enrolment Coordinator, Administrator and School Director. In her capacity as V.P. Operations, Cheryl is responsible for ensuring a quality educational experience is delivered at the six MC College Campuses. She oversees all aspects of school operations and works hard to create a culture of commitment to MC Graduate Success. Cheryl also acts as the Chair of the Alberta Association of Career Colleges.
Lynn graduated from MC College’s Hairstyling program in 1992 and became Journeyman and Red Seal certified in 1993. After graduating, Lynn worked as a licensed hairstylist at Champs Elysee Studio and Salon Elegante for nine years. In 1996, she returned to MC College this time as a Hairstyling Instructor where she stayed for nine years. Lynn has vast knowledge working with Joico, Schwarzkopf and Artego products. Seeing the need for a human resource professional at the growing MC College, Lynn enhanced her education by completing her Human Resources diploma. In 2006, Lynn started her HR career as a Human Resource Administrator and then was promoted to Human Resource Manger in June 2007. In her off time, Lynn enjoys reading, continued education, and running and training for half marathons. Lynn intends on inspiring our students by ensuring that our team of mentors in each campus are as passionate about the industry as our future professionals are.
Anna graduated from MC College in 1982 as a hairstylist. A few years after graduating, Anna was an instructor at MC College for five years before relocating to Italy. For six years, she was the Director of Education and an educator for Pivot Point International. After a two year stint as a Cosmetology assistant in public education, Anna immigrated to Saudi Arabia where she expanded her experience as a hairstylist, educator, and salon manager. Using her vast knowledge, she returned to MC College Group as Director of Education in 2010. Anna hopes that our students know that this profession is very rewarding and to pursue it with dignity and respect.
Jeff is a graduate from MC College’s Hairstyling Program with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Currently, he is the Creative Director of Artego Canada, Global Creative Team Member of Artego International and the Global Director at Jeff Louis FLOW. As MC College’s Creatve Advisor, Jeff brings a fresh and expert perspective on the creative direction of the Hairstyling industry. In 2013, Jeff’s passion for the industry led him to open his own salon: Elysium Salon Spirit. Throughout his career, he has traveled across North America and Europe to participate in hair shows. In 2006, he was named Contessa’s Alberta Hairdresser of the Year. In addition, he has been nominated as a finalist for Canadian Men’s Hairstylist of the Year (2005), Canadian Hairdresser of the Year (2006) and Finalist Alberta Hairstylist of the Year (2007).
Catherine has been a part of the MC College group team since 1998. Since then she has experienced different areas of the company. She started as an Administrator/Admissions Advisor then moved up to Assistant Director for seven years. In 2009, Catherine became a part of the Head Office team as Executive Assistant. In 2013, she completed the NACC Leadership Academy. Catherine spends her free time cooking, enjoying art and design, and with her new hobby, knitting. As she tends to appreciate things a little out of the ordinary, she encourages our students to look at people or situations from a different perspective.
Stephanie’s journey at MC College began in 2006. With her educational background in Business Management, she began her career as a Director of the Edmonton campus. Under her leadership, Stephanie led her campus to receive the School of the Year for two consecutive years. Stephanie moved to Head Office as Executive Assistant in 2008. In her spare time, she loves to travel, golf and cook. Stephanie visits the school salons and spas and encourages our students to develop their all-important customer service skills.
Chinda has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta. She began her career in marketing as an intern at a world renowned shopping centre and at a non-profit organization. Prior to MC College, Chinda was part of the marketing and operations team at a fast paced high profile salon and spa for 4 years.
Taryn is a graduate from MC College’s Fashion program in Edmonton. Since receiving her Diploma, she has worked in retail Management and sales at Simons and Scotch & Soda. Taryn started her career at MC College as an Enrolment Coordinator at the Calgary campus but has recently transitioned into her new role as the Admissions Leader at corporate head office.What Taryn loves most about working in an Admissions role at MC College is helping people gain the confidence they need to start their journey in the career they’ve always dreamt of having.
Shealynn brings over 10 years of administration experience working in the oil/gas and commercial security industry. Throughout her career, she gained valuable experience in customer service, communications and logistics. She has worked as a Service Coordinator at Tyco Fire & Security Solutions. She also worked as an Administrative Coordinator at Atco gas where she managed tenants and several property management companies.
