Crystal Shearer, Director

Crystal has been a part of the MC College Group team for over 4 years and brings with her 19 years experience in the Beauty Industry. Before moving into the role of Director, she was a Hairstyling Instructor and as well as a Salon/Spa Coordinator and Administrator. Crystal has participated in numerous color classes, including Goldwell Trilogy, Wella and Artego. She has also participated in an Advanced Color and Foil Technique class. Crystal has taken KMS and Artego Product Knowledge and is currently working on her NACC Instructor Development Program - Levels 1 and 2.

Originally from Vernon, Gabriella moved to Calgary, Alberta for several years. She is now back in the Okanagan where she is working towards a Bachelor of Human Resources and Labor Relations degree from Athabasca University. Before joining the MC Team, she worked in the administration and student services department at Robertson College and CDI College. 

Kym Carrol, Hairstyling Instructor

Kym has been in the salon industry for 14 years. Realizing her need for a fast-paced and creative career, she enrolled in a hairstyling program. After watching her mentor at a platform show, Kym was inspired to specialize in hair color. She has worked at salons such as Excel, Mirror Mirror, Front Shop and West Coast Beauty. In addition, she was a business consultant for Loreal Professional and an educator at Pureology.  Throughout her career, she has completed advanced color classes and product knowledge seminars with companies such as Dikson, Loreal, Joico and Pureology. As a Hairstyling Instructor, she is excited to work with students and watch them progress throughout their education.

Carlee McLean, Hairstyling Instructor

“There is so much to learn as a Hairstylist. Being yourself and treating your clients and co workers with respect and support will only help you blossom. I’m so blessed to be able to share my knowledge and stories from the industry.” 
Carlee is a graduate from MC College’s Hairstyling program where she consecutively placed in the top 3 for retail sales. Since graduating, she has worked at Gini’s Hair and Day Spa, Bangs Hair Studio and Curl Up & Dye Salon. Her passion for the industry led her back to MC College to help educate future Stylists. “I am so excited to see the stepping stones that the students will walk through. Watching them grow is so special and rewarding”. With over 7 years of experience as a Hairstylist, Carlee has taken advanced cutting classes through Big Sexy Hair. “Continued education for educators and students is such a wonderful opportunity for us both...the ability to continuously learn is what I learn most about the beauty industry” says Carlee. 

Samantha Trenholm, Hairstyling Instructor

“I’m so excited to teach why being a hairstylist is the most fun and rewarding job. Hair is amazing and the possibilities are limitless…I have met so many talented people”
Samantha has a Hairstyling Diploma from L'Institut Jon Raymond in Moncton, New Brunswick. She is also a certified Nail Technologist through Medes College.  Prior to joining the MC College team, she worked as a Stylist at Society the Salon, Magic Cuts, and Klassy Cuts. In 2011, she opened Do or Dye Salon in Riverview, New Brunswick. As a salon professional with nearly 10 years of experience, Samantha understands the importance of continual education. She has taken advanced cutting and colouring workshops with Matrix and Aveda. “Do not limit yourself, take as many courses and classes as possible. You will never be done learning. Be the best stylist we know you can be.”

Tracey Cameron, Esthetics Instructor

Intrigued by taking a BioSculpture Gel Technician course, Tracey began her journey on being an esthetician. While completing her esthetics training, she gained experience working at a nail salon. Upon graduation, she was offered a full time position at Amici’s Hair & Body Spa working exclusively with BioSculpture and Dermalogica products. This enticed Tracey to take advanced skincare courses including Microdermabrasion, LED Light Treatment, and Electrotherapy. For four years, Tracey owned and operated her own skin spa, called Prrr. In 2010, she closed her spa and started her career at MC College as an Esthetics Instructor.

Chelsea McCagherty, Esthetics Instructor

"I feel rewarded that I get to share my experiences…to be able to teach someone to be the best they can be at something is so special and gratifying"
Chelsea is a MC College graduate from the Esthetics program in Kelowna. After graduating, she moved to Calgary to work at Esthetica Spa and Diva Hair Salon/Spa. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, she has completed certification in lash extensions and advanced nail sculpting through Premiere Nail Source. As an Esthetics Instructor and MC College alumni, Chelsea is back to where her roots in Esthetics started.

Jana Nicol, Salon and Spa Coordinator

Jana received her make up artistry certificate from MC College. With over 15 years of experience as a freelance make-up artist, she enjoys keeping up to date on make up and fashion trends. As a Salon and Spa Coordinator, she looks forward to helping students hone their sales and communication skills.
